Pray for Ukraine

If your heart and compassion is in your praying, each prayer makes a difference, no matter how long or how short.  If you want to know what’s happening to support Ukraine, check out this link: https://eoorc.ca/resources/ukraine-conflict-how-can-we-help/  This link includes things like a Ukrainian Relief Fundraising Lunch, how to help refugees come to Canada, and links for monetary donations.

Your support and prayers make a big difference. Thank you!

20th Anniversary Gala – November 17, 2022, Centurion Centre, 170 Colonnade Rd. S., Ottawa.  We are excited to invite you to celebrate the past and the future work of Multifaith Housing Initiative.  There will be dinner, short presentations and dancing.  Tables of 8 will be set.   When you order tickets you can indicate your table preference.  If your congregation would like to make a table or join with another congregation, just make those arrangements and name your table.  Tickets are $100 each (with a $35 income tax receipt issued from MHI) and can be purchased at    https://www.multifaithhousing.ca   The proceeds from The Gala will be the Launch of Dream-LeBreton Capital Campaign for Indigenous families.   It will be a $1.5M campaign to build 30 units (out of 160 MHI units) that will be dedicated to indigenous families.   We hope you will join us for this Gala evening.

Official Board – November 17 at Manotick Place at 7pm. This is the Board that looks after matters pertaining to the whole Pastoral Charge.  Pretty interesting, if you ask me. We are currently planning this to be in person, with a zoom option.

Worship Committee – Wednesday November 3 at 1 pm, in person.

Edge Team Meeting – November 1 at 7 pm at North Gower United.  If any wish a zoom option, please let Carolyn know.

Unified Board – November on zoom and in person at North Gower United Church.

Carsonby Congregational Meeting

This will be an important meeting to look at where Carsonby is and where it’s going.   We will announce the exact time and place later.  It will include a look at where we are (people, our mission, and finances). It will also include visioning for the future. Jackie and Carolyn will bring to this meeting information learned during 4 sessions with a Stewardship Specialist (which they’re doing from May 4 to May 18).  Carolyn and Jackie will have received personalized coaching and on-going support that reflect Carsonby’s unique mission, focus, and resources. So I (Carolyn) am imagining we may need even more than one time to be together.

Here’s the meeting date, with another possibility that we may (or may not) choose to add as well.

  • Sunday June 5. It could be right after church (if in person), or even possibly at Manotick Place in the afternoon.  TBA

  • With a possibility of Sunday June 12 in case we’re not finished and we want to meet a week later!  (We’re adding this now, as legally we need to give 2 Sundays’ notice for any congregational meeting.  Announcing this now gives us the option to hold this meeting if we wish.  But of course, we could choose another date.)

Carsonby United Donating:

Thank you to everyone for your continuing gifts to Carsonby United Church. You are looking after the Church by using many different methods. If you wish to make a donation, please contact Jackie at 613-215-0470 or by Email m.j.kearns@hotmail.com .

North Gower United Donating:

  • Jody always welcomes a cheerful giver, and she is great at exploring ways that work for you to donate to the church if you wish.  For instance…

  • You can mail Jody post-dated cheques.

  • You can also donate through the non-profit site CanadaHelps online if you go to the North Gower United Church Website.  There is a 4% fee for this. northgowerunited.church

  • Another route is to use PAR (Pre-Authorized Remittance- it comes out of your bank account). I believe there is a 50 cent fee per transaction. If you want to go this route, Jody can walk you through this process.  Jody Leclair nguctreasurer@gmail.com.
